Yes, its breezy and friendly. Thats because its full of fluff along the lines of this: When Judy and Paul were looking for a home in Anytown, Connecticut, they found one they really liked except it smelled like diapers... lt;br /gt;Yes I did make that up, but my point is there is so much fluff to weed through in this book and not a heck of a lot of meat. It gives you lots of common sense advice. Personally I found maybe one or two ideas in the entire book that were new to me, and Im not a professional stager or a Realtor. The good thing is, if you really want to read this book, you can do so in an afternoon. There is nothing wrong with the writing--and yes, anecdotes are interesting to most people. Its just that this book is too full of stories. lt;br /gt;A better choice is Peggys Corner, by Peggy Selinger-Eaton. It is more expensive but it does come with a DVD. Peggy doesnt get into dealing with agents or tell any stories--its just tips on improving the impression your home will make on buyers. You can look at this non-commercial web site for some ideas.
This book IS just what you want if you want to sell your house. Im a Realtor, so I feel especially qualified to say this.
This book tells it like it is. You want the most money out of your investment, than try to do all the things listed to prepare your house before you call a realtor or have people view it. It is a lot of work - it took me three months - but everyone who viewed my home said what a lovely home I had, how well-maintained it was, and I had an offer in less than 24 hours for more than my listing price! I also heard a lot of comments from potential buyers about how dirty and cluttered other homes they visited were - so much so that it was hard to see what the home had to offer. A very, very worthwhile investment.
