A Pirate Looks at Fifty > Customer Review #1:
A masterpiece of "life".

Thousands of parrotheads flock to see Jimmy Buffet each year. In his own words, Jimmy has asked "how has this happened?". Well, "A Pirate Looks At Fifty" explains why. This is a well written biography which allows readers to understand why this individual has entered the lives and touched the hearts of so many. His travels document a true adventurer who loves family, friends, and the quest for finding out whats next. Jimmys blend of humor and love of life details the reason behind his love affair with his fans. Anyone reading this book will realize that his followers are merely individuals who live their ordinary, routine lives through him so as to seek out that sense of adventure we all wish to fulfill. This is a must read.....one which will fill you with happiness and enchantment....and which will leave you begging Jimmy Buffet to "continue spending our money foolishly". Dont miss it.

A Pirate Looks at Fifty > Customer Review #2:
Just like Jimmy Buffett, laid back and easy going.

Jimmy is both honest and courageous in this book. Winding his stories through his life like a modern day Mark Twain. He starts by explaining that his writing is more rambling than literature (it is). His thoughts sometimes move faster than his plane across the water, skipping from wave to wave. However he always manages to bring the thought full circle and keeps you entertained in the process. As in his concerts he shares his thoughts on life, love and living. Giving you a feel for who he is and where he came from. Writing as though he is sitting on the beach next to you trading old stories. Through his stories hell take you to places that youve only dreamed of and share hopes, dreams and sorrows of his life. Never loosing his sense of humor and keeping you smiling and laughing all the way through. Youll come away from this book feeling like youve met a friend. While it wont win a pulitzer, if you like to dream and enjoy a grand story told well, this book is a must - Parrothead or not.

A Pirate Looks at Fifty > Customer Review #3:
Another Caribbean Soul

I first read this book on my honeymoon on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and it has truly inspired me. A fellow sailor from childhood, I had lost touch with my ties to Mother Ocean as I pursued a career in engineering that was successful by conventional standards but left me feeling like something was missing. This book reminded me what it was. Jimmy Buffett is an incredible storyteller, and has lived a life many (like me) only dream of. He makes you want to visit each and every place he describes. Some may claim that this book does not deserve 5 stars because it is not a literary masterpiece, and if you want a literary masterpiece, this book is not for you. If you are looking for an enjoyable vacation read, or for inspiration to truly live life instead of following the status quo, then this is a 5-star book for you!
