Customer Review #1:
The BEST Story Ive read in a long time
Im a big SEP fan because she writes funny, quirky characters who arent your run-of-the-mill romance novel characters and she writes the absolute best dialogue Ive ever read. This book is phenomenal. I could not put it down. Some parts had me laughing out loud and others just made me want to cry. Sugar Beth was a spiteful, mean-spirited girl in her youth, most especially to Winnie, but SEP delves so deeply into Sugar Beths psyche that you understand why she acted the way she did. Her motivations are very clear. The Sugar Beth we meet at the beginning of the book has grown up and taken her fair share of lumps and she ends up taking several more before the book is through. But she doesnt let any of it break her spirit. Im a sucker for a heroine whos a wise ass and a hero who can throw it right back at her and thats Sugar Beth and Colin. They are just so funny together, yet touching at the same time. The kind hero and heroine that stay with you long after youve finished reading the book. This is a wonderful story. I wish I could have given it more stars.

Customer Review #2:
Typical SEP
Ive waited for this book very patiently and it was 100% SEP. Theres the heroine, Sugar Beth, whose life is in the dumpster. Theres a brooding hero, Colin, who is plotting an elaborate renvenge. Sugar Beth is too much like Rachel in dream a little dream, Daisy in kiss an angel and Fransesca in fancy pants. Her situation is also very similar- A woman brought down by bad times is put at the mercy of a hero who routinely gives her a hard time, but she uses her strength, pride and wit to get back and after a few dramatic separations/misunderstanding, everyone lives happily ever after. But despite being predictable and all, this book is amazing. I liked it better than the three similar books mentioned above. Colin, the hero, was also much more likable. The dialogue is uplifting and very witty. And some scenes were real sweet without being melodramatic. I loved it. I could read another few books with the exact same plot lines if she does as good a job with it.

Customer Review #3:
My favorite book this summer!!
I just finshed the audio version of this book, and I have to say it is one of the best books Philips has ever written. I laughed so hard I cried, and I cried at times too. Sugarbeth is not quite what she appears to be, and I will not spoil the book for any new reader by saying much about the plot, but Sugarbeth truly is a "woman for the ages." There is a lot of wisdon buried in the pages of this book, and Philips does not cheat her readers by ending the story too soon, or taking the easy way out. I spend a lot of time and money on books, in particular audio books which cost a lot more than a paperback, and I appreciate an author who gives me 110%. That is rare today when a lot of best selling authors pump out books by the dozen and feed us recycled junk in order to get us to buy another book. That is not true with Philips, and this book is a great example of the writings of an author who loves her audience and her characters.
