Customer Review #1:
Grabs you from page 1
Like all of James Rollins books it presents a fascinating premise within the first couple of pages. One of the things I like about his writing is that there is very little "fluff", that is he sticks to the story and keeps it moving along at a fast clip. Every chapter was different and fascinating. I like the way he often uses actual places in his books (although the Amazon doesnt seem too mysterious". In this book, I assume the plants and shaman medicines described are real, as are many of the dangers normal to that part of the world. The only negative comment is that this book (as well as Subterranean) stretches the imagination a bit too much for my liking. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the read and finished the book in a few days, I have a hard type imagining a 100 long alligator, for example. Dont let this deter you though. If you enjoyed any of his other books youll not be disappointed with Amazonia.

Customer Review #2:
The Mighty Tor-Tor
Here you go folks, a book seemingly designed for those with ADD. Extreme action, mutated creatures, explosives, giant jaguars, violence( including dismemberment and head shrinking!), a dash of sex, poison, betrayal, technology on the fritz, insects that will eat you alive, pirahnas that will chase you onto land, giant caimans that will jump into trees, a lost tribe, a plague threatening the world, prehistoric plants, and regenerating body parts! Whew, thats a lot of stuff going on and James Rollins pulls most of it off without a glitch. The characters are strong enough to make you care, the action is most definitely exciting, the various creatures interesting and nasty enough to shock and awe even the most poised reader. So why not 5 stars? Well... The ending could have been better, there could have been a little bit more surprise when it comes to the realization of who the "mole" is (that was kinda Scooby Doo-ish), and those who deserved horrible demises get dispatched rather quickly. However, if you have read Rollins earlier work you most likely wont be dissapointed here. No matter how you look at it this guy is damn fun to read, and his books would make excellent movies. I know Id buy a ticket, and speaking of buying check out Subterrranean and Excavation, both solid actioners. No Tor-Tors were harmed in the writing of this review.

Customer Review #3:
GREAT! GREAT!
I am not going to rewrite here what the book is about since my fellow reviewers so kindly already did that. I am just going to say that this book was GREAT!! I have been a Dean Koontz fan for years (and still am), but James Rollins books now share my bookshelve space. If anyone out there can tell me of any other authors that write like Mr. Rollins I would love to hear from you. The only others I have found that come anywhere near his style is Preston Douglas and Lincoln Child. Please e-mail me if you have any names for me [email protected].
