Customer Review #1:
Lethems weakest, and Ive read them all
I agree with the person below (above?) who says this plot is dull and pretty much goes nowhere. I was hugely disappointed in this book. "Gun, with Occasional Music" was the first Lethem book I ever read and I think think it stands alone as the most original and best-executed. Its funnier than hell most of the time and just an odd, good read. Amnesia Moon wasnt (although I have to take issue with the claim that the book has racist undertones. You really have to be looking for them to see any, and even then theyre not there).

Customer Review #2:
What did you expect?
It seems like most people out there are reading back from Motherless Brooklyn. IE: Going from a great lush semi-realistic tale to an earlier very lush dreamlike tale. Doesnt seem like people started from the beginning...I loved Amnesia Moon and have read it 3 times over the last few years (Gun I did like more, I reread it about once every year). There is an esence in Lethems writing that does not escape you from book to book. Its hard to explain. A comfort level between writer style to reader. And his writing style is beyond top notch. These one stars perplex me... I felt the climax in this tale was better than Gun With Occasional Music. Any climax with a talking Banzai tree and grandfather clock that leaves you on the edge of your seat is a book to be reckoned with. If you are looking for a book to hit you over the head with all of the answers to all of its secrets, then you might be better off looking for Dainelle Steeles or Stephen Kings newest.

Customer Review #3:
Weak for a lethem novel
Having devoured most of the lethem novels, i found this to be his weakest - the tops being Gun, with occasional music and Motherless Brooklyn. Yes, its interesting and fantastical but if you are looking for any hidden meaning as people reading it have been i think you are out of luck. The ending explains the point of the novel and that is the annoying part as it is weak and sappy. I gave it a 3 as it wasnt a complete waste of time as he is such a talented writer and maybe the ending wont bother some people. However, if you havent read American Gods by Neil Gaiman i would suggest spending the time reading it instead.
