Among the Best
Among the hidden is one of the best books ive ever read, i could read it again, and again, and never get bored. The way Margaret P. Haddix leaves you hanging is amazing, and you wont want to put it down. Actually, i take that back, you wont be able to put it down. Like when Luke... well ill let you read the book to find out. See Luke, a shadow child, is not even supposed to exist, because the population police say hes illegal. Familes can only have two children in the family, and thats it. But many people break the law. Luke used to be able to run around and play outside, before the barrons moved in across the way, now hes forced to stay inside. But one day when hes looking out the window, a definant NO, he sees a girl in a house where 2 boys already live. My favorite quote from the book is when Jen, (the girl luke saw and decided to investigate on) is talking on Instant Messanger with other shadow children, and luke asks;"Whats the password?" And Jen answers, "Free. The password is free"

Among The Hidden Jason
Among The Hidden, written by Margaret Petterson Haddix is an amazing, have-to-read novel. Luke, the main character of the novel, is a shadow child, a third child and one of many.Luke is living in a time where a bad government was in control. A law was passed that allowed only two children to family.Lukes mother had him anyway. From birth, Luke had to hide from the law and from the punishment of death. The person who I relate to most in the book is Luke. When he gets scared that someones going to find him it reminds me of when I was about three. ... It got me so frustrated just like Luke in his situation.Among The Hidden is an excellent book. Im picky about my books yet I loved it.Being that it was an adventure book, there were many exciting parts. Though I found the most exciting part of the book, was when Luke snuck over to Jens house. The worst part was the long introduction in the beginning, which had no action at all. This book is appropriate for grades 5-6 and both girls and boys will like it. If I could change something it would be the ending. ...

Customer Review #3:
a great book!
In a future where the government enforces a strict policy of allowing only 2 children to a family, illegal third child luke garner must lead a secretive and cocealed life in his family home and the surrounding wood. But soon his life becomes even more secretive when a housing development is built across from his house, and his parents, fearing for his safety, restrict him only to the confines of his home.Following the exploits of luke as he longs for freedom and a better life, this book is exciting interesting, and a heart pounding page-turner without much even happening. In fact, the plot is so simple it could be paraphrased into ashort story; but that is th beauty of the book, how the author wraps you into this frightening reality and portrays lukes feeling with such skill and description that the bookeasily recieves five stars from me.
