A Walk to Remember > Customer Review #1:
Tears of Sadness and Joy

It took me less than a weekend to read this book...and it was a very busy weekend. Somehow, I couldnt put it down. The story of Jamie Sullivan, the awkward daughter of a widowed Baptist minister in the 1950s, and Landon Carter, the popular son of a US Congressman, is absolutely incredible.

They begin as absolute opposites...shes the shy, sweet girl who everyone makes fun of in school. Hes the guy everyone wants to be friends with. They end up having the leading parts in the Christmas play, and their friendship begins to evolve. It turns into love, but then a heartbreaking discovery may split them forever.

This is a walk everyone should take, but be prepared with plenty of tissues.

Nicholas Sparks did an excellent job describing the settings and happenings of the book. Id never read a book by him before, but now Im contemplating checking out some of his other books.

Love Lasts Forever

Most of the time, lovey dovey romantic novels do not interest me, but A Walk To Remember was certainly a novel that I will never regret reading. Since I had seen previews for the movie version of the book, I obtained some sense of what the storyline was about. I had heard that the novel and the movie differed in many ways, therefore encouraging me to read the novel. One indifference is in the beginning of the two versions. In the movie version, one of the main characters, Landon Carter, is projected more as a troublesome kid. While as in the novel, the audience does not receive a message that extreme. Another indifference is the ending of the novel, but you will have to read the book to understand the point I am trying to make.

A Walk To Remember is a romantic novel, and a great story for teenage girls to read and enjoy. It centers around two characters, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. This popular high school throb and quiet outcast meet due to Landons misdoings. Never would he had known that getting in trouble would lead him to discover the love of his life. The novel takes the reader through Jamie and Landons journey to learn about one another. The novels most critical moment takes place during the school play as Landon realizes Jamies beauty she endures within. Upon discovering a sickness that Jamie has survived for quite some time, the reader is captivated into emotions of sadness, happiness, and tears, as Landon and Jamie make the most of their time together.

Throughout this novel, the idea of judgmentality and openness are portrayed by these two unique characters. Jamies Christian morals and Landons rebellious actions combine together forming two new people into one. This novel is the best novel I have ever read and appreciated in a very long time. The central message of the novel is such an unforgotten and important meaning that it has affected the way I think in many ways. I have come to understand that life is a blessing, and to take advantage of it is just like throwing life away. I also learned that true love can last forever. Once it is found, love can continue after death. Love is the center of the soul, and the soul never dies. This novel seizes its audience so well, that I am left crying over and over again. I think this book was written beautifully and with pure heart and soul. I admire Nicholas Sparks, for I think he has written one of the best love stories throughout my time. I encourage anyone to pick this book up and read the first line, because from then on you will not be able to stop reading it. This book is five star quality with two thumbs up!!

ANSWER THIS QUESTION
do you enjoy
A. reading books
B. watching movies better?
THOSE WHO ANSWERED A. read the book first, it was a GREAT book (though i watched the movie first so i didnt think it was the BEST)
THOSE WHO ANSWERED B. watch the movie first (as i did...not even knowing there was a book)

the movie was my favorite movie in the world. However, when i read the book, i was slightly dissapointed (so different)
its ur choice which you should watch/read first. I persononly LOVED the movie, i would suggest watching the movie first, becasue i know most people need a great love story that is different than the tyical predictable love story. if you enjoy the movie/book i would highly suggest reading SARAH DESSENS books. THE MOVIE AND BOOK WERE BOTH GREAT, GET THE BOTH, BUT BE SURE IN WHICH ONE YOU WANT TO LIKE MORE WHEN YOU CHOOSE WHICH TO WATCH/READ FIRST!
